Northstar Clean Technologies Inc. is a Canadian-based clean technology company focused on the sustainable recovery and reprocessing of asphalt shingles. Northstar has developed a proprietary design process for taking discarded asphalt shingles, otherwise destined for already over-crowded landfills, and extracting the liquid asphalt for use in new hot mix asphalt, shingle manufacturing and asphalt flat roof systems, and aggregate and fiber for use in construction products and other industrial applications. Focused on the circular economy, Northstar plans to reprocess used or defective asphalt shingle waste back into its three primary components for reuse/resale initially at its first commercial scale up facility in Calgary, Alberta. Several expansion initiatives are underway such as a location in Hamilton, Ontario CANADA and the Company's first United States location which has not yet been disclosed. These sites are in addition to the Company's pilot plant located in Delta, British Columbia CANADA which can be easily retro-fitted into a commercial scale facility. As an emerging innovator in sustainable processing, Northstar’s mission is to be the leader in the recovery and reprocessing of asphalt shingles in North America, extracting the recovered components from asphalt shingles that would otherwise be sent to landfill.
Over the last 12 months, the Company has engineered, constructed and commissioned a commercial asphalt shingle reprocessing facility in Calgary, Alberta CANADA. The first of its kind plant, will initially process 40,000 tonnes per annum of discarded shingles with plans to quickly add a second shift, bringing annual throughput to 80,000 tonnes per annum. The Company also owns a pilot facility in Delta, British Columbia CANADA that can ultimately be retro-fitted to a commercial plant in the future with less regulation as all permits to operate at that location exist. The Company is already positioning itself for growth in Canada, but more importantly, in the United States where the asphalt shingle markets is nearly 10x larger than Canada. These expansion efforts in the United States will be facilitated with Tamko Building Products, a strategic investor in the Company. Tamko is one of the largest shingle manufacturing companies in the United States.
