The Charbone team has worked diligently for years to refine our technology and proprietary processes with the goal of delivering more than 16 scalable, turnkey green hydrogen production facilities by 2030 in strategic corridors across North America coast to coast. As the hydrogen market evolves, Charbone plans to use hydropower plants, connection to grid or IPP's partnership to supply clean energy to its green hydrogen production plants in order to reduce carbon emissions and control production costs. Energy costs and distribution costs are currently a significant component of the hydrogen prices and the ability to control and lower these costs will allow Charbone to have a more competitive offering when compared to other methods of production of hydrogen. Charbone has offtake agreements Tier One industrial gas distributors in place to leverage the distribution network, this includes all Charbone green hydrogen production for Quebec.
Phase 1 development of the Sorel-Tracy green hydrogen plant, with capacity to produce approximately 400 kg per day, is expected to begin in 2024. Charbone has tapped renewable energy suppliers to lead project delivery, and all major components and equipment for the facility are reported as being ready for site delivery. CHARBONE has received from the “Ministère de l'Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques” of Quebec the certificate of environmental authorization to produce up to 5.0 MW green hydrogen at the Sorel-Tracy CHARBONE Hydrogen facility for phases 1, 2 and 3. The Sorel-Tracy facility is located on approximately 40,000 square meters of land along Highway 30, fifty minutes east of Montreal by the St-Lawrence River. Already, aligned with decarbonization policies of the Government of Quebec, the plant will create around 45 jobs when all 5 phases are completed.
