Georgios Xiradakis has over 35 years of experience in shipping finance&marine policy. The period from 1984 to 1989 was that of his career at sea. From 1991 to 1994 he served as Credit Officer for Banque Franco-Hellenique de Commerce Internationale et Maritime. After its acquisition by Credit Lyonnais (CL), he became an Account Manager, before moving to Paris, assuming responsibilities as the Head of European Shipping Finance until 1997. He was then appointed as DGM of CL and Head of Shipping for Greece, the ME and India. In 1999 he founded XRTC Ltd. representing International Banking and Shipping Organizations. His relationship with the China Development Bank led to the first Chinese shipping loans to the Greek Market, resulting in XRTC winning the Greek Shipping Financier of the Year Award by Lloyd’s in 2010. He serves as a VP of the Greece-China Chamber and the Greece-China Friendship Association, the General Secretary of the Association of Banking and Financial Executives of Hellenic Shipping, the 3rd Vice President of the Propeller Club of USA and Honorary President Emeritus of the Propeller Club of Piraeus. He was a member of the BoD of DryShips Inc.(NASDAQ: DRYS), Aries Maritime SA(NASDAQ: Aries) and Paragon Shipping Inc(NASDAQ: PRGN). He graduated from the Nautical Marine Academy in Athens, and received a Postgraduate Diploma in Commercial Operations of Shipping from London Metropolitan University and an MSc in Maritime Studies from the University of Wales,UK.
