About Dr. Herbert L. Gould Herbert L. Gould, MD, FACS, brings a wealth of experience in ophthalmology and innovative eye care. After graduating from Bowdoin College and Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons, he completed his residency at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, initiating the Contact Lens Clinic. Dr. Gould has held prestigious positions, including Assistant Clinical Professor in Ophthalmology at SUNY Downstate and Associate Clinical Professor at New York Medical College. Dr. Gould is a founding member of the American Intraocular Lens Implant Society, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, and the New York Keratorefractive Society. He has been a major contributor to advancements in eye care, including the development of the Lasik technique. Dr. Gould has been a prolific presenter at global ophthalmological conferences and has published extensively. His pioneering work includes implanting the first intraocular lens in China and introducing radial keratotomy to the U.S. His military service as a Major and Flight Surgeon in the U.S. Air Force further highlights his diverse expertise.
