Pat Choate is an economist and policy strategist. He is Director of the Manufacturing Policy Project, a private non-profit, non-partisan policy institute that studies economic competitiveness. Pat Choate has served on several Presidential and Congressional Commissions, has given expert testimony before Congress more than 50 times, and is the author of nine books, three of which were national best sellers. His three most recent books are Hot Property (Alfred A. Knopf, Inc., 2005), which examines the role of intellectual property in national and corporate development, Dangerous Business (Knopf, 2008), which examines the risks of unfettered globalization for the United States, and Saving Capitalism, (Vintage 2009) which provides six major ideas on how to create more and better U.S. jobs. Pat Choate holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Oklahoma. In 1996, he was Ross Perot's running mate.
